Stephen A. McDonald


MONMOUTH – Stephen A. McDonald, 58, of Monmouth, died on Thursday, May 25, at his home.

He was born on Aug. 22, 1947, in Bridgton, the son of Carroll and Janice (Potter) McDonald.

He worked hard all of his life. He was a member of Local 496 and was a self-employed logger for many years. His greatest enjoyment was with being with his family and friends.

He enjoyed harness racing, and he loved everything about horses in general. When he had time during off-seasons of work, he visited friends in Florida and looked forward to the fishing there.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Katherine (Curran) McDonald; three children, Steven and his wife, Elysse, of Whitefield, Ryan and his wife, Lisa, of Monmouth, and Jennifer McDonald, of Burlington, Vt.; five grandchildren, Nathan, Logan, Isabelle, Cody, and Andrea; his mother Janice, of Monmouth; two sisters, Sandra Van Wart and her husband, Art, Ellen Horton and her husband, Dennis; two brothers, Carl and his wife, Diane and Kenny; eight nieces; four nephews; his father-in law and mother-in-law, Paul and Virginia Curran; sisters-in-law, Paulette Roy and her husband, Claude, Deborah Davidson and her husband, Norm, Shannon Curran; and closest of friends for more than 25 years, Esau and Diane Cooper, of Auburn.

He was predeceased by his father; his sister, Louise Cox; his brother, Mike; and a granddaughter, Alexis McDonald.
