PARIS - A Paris motorcyclist was listed in critical condition at a Lewiston hospital Monday night with injuries from a collision on Paris Hill Road.

Bruce May, 63, of Mt. Mica Road, suffered a head injury and broken leg when his 2005 Harley-Davidson and a Mitsubishi Mirage collided at the intersection of Hill Street, police Chief David Verrier said. He was not wearing a helmet.

May was flown to Central Maine Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition, a nursing supervisor said at 9:35 p.m. Monday.

Reta Porter, 78, of School Street in Gorham, was reportedly hurt but the nature of her injuries and what hospital she was taken to could not be ascertained Monday night.

She was a passenger in the car driven by Janet Porter, 77, of North Gorham Road in Gorham, who was not injured, according to a report filed by Patrolman Ron Cole, which Patrolman Nathan Bowie read from Monday night.

May was going north up the hill at 2:40 p.m., the report stated, and Janet Porter was headed south and making a left turn onto Hill Street when they collided, Verrier said.

The motorcycle had an estimated $8,000 damage, according to the report.

The 1999 Mitsubishi had extensive damage to the front passenger side and passenger doors and a smashed windshield.

Paris police Lt. Michael Dailey is in charge of reconstructing the accident.

Assisting Cole were Verrier and school resource officer Zane Loper. A state trooper was along at the scene.

The road was closed while police, PACE Ambulance, and firefighters performed their tasks.
