TRENTON, N.J. - Mike James fanned Matt Carson and Aarom Baldiris with the tying run at third base in the ninth inning as the Portland Sea Dogs held on for a 3-2 win over the Trenton Thunder Thursday.

With the win, the Sea Dogs avoid a four-game sweep.

Bryan Pritz drove in the eventual winning run with a two-out bases loaded walk

Michael Bowden fired four shutout innings in his second Double-A start despite allowing four hits and five walks. Bowden fanned three, and the Thunder left two men on base in each of the right-handers' four innings. Trenton stranded 14 runners in all on the afternoon, including at least one runner in every inning.

Lincoln Holdzkom earned the win with two innings of relief, allowing a run on two hits while fanning three. James earned his seventh save of the season.

Jay Johnson started the scoring with a solo homer in the second. The Sea Dogs built a 3-0 lead in the third frame on an error, two walks, and two singles. Jed Lowrie drove in a run with a single, extending his on-base streak to 23 games, which is the longest on-base streak by a Sea Dog since Kevin Youkilis reached base in his final 62 games as a Sea Dog in 2003.
