Monmouth 11-11, Lincoln 1-0

BOOTHBAY HARBOR - Ethan Guerette blasted three home runs and drove in seven runs to lead Monmouth to a doubleheader sweep over Lincoln in American Legion baseball action Saturday. Monmouth won the opener 11-1 and closed out the home team 11-0 over five innings in the second game.
Guerette led the game off with his first four bagger and added a grand slam in the second and a solo blast in the seventh. For the game he went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and three stolen bases.
Mike Eaton (1-0) went the distance in the opener, striking out 10 and allowing just two hits and a walk. Roy Arsenault (0-1) took the loss.
In the nightcap, Monmouth (4-0) scored all 11 runs in the first frames with Josh Jillson, Forrest Dwyer and Sean Holbrook all picking up a pair of RBIs. Chris Ellis (1-0) went the distance while fanning nine and giving up just one hit.
Gavin Jones suffered the loss. |
