Lobster Bowl golf tourney set

AUBURN - The second-annual Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 21 at Fox Ridge Golf Club. Shotgun start is at noon with a scramble format. Dinner will include choice of steak or chicken with barbecue ribs.

The entry deadline is Thursday, July 19. Registration on the day of the tournament is from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Each golfer will receive a Lobster Bowl gift towel, a sleeve of golf balls, discount coupons and a Varsity Gold two-for-one golf card good for golf at local courses. More than 100 prizes will be raffled. Contests will include longest drive, closest to pin, straightest drive and a putting contest. For more information, contact Ryan Wilson at 713-7304.

Oxford County Soccer set for clinics, season

SOUTH PARIS - The Oxford County Soccer Club will team up with Oxford Hills Boosters to run the Vikings Co-Ed Summer Camp for players entering kindergarten through sixth grade. The two-week program begins Monday, July 16. To download a registration form, go to www.oxfordcountysoccerclub.org.

The club and the boosters also are offering a free coaching clinic on Wednesday, July 25 at Gouin Athletic Complex. The clinic starts at 6 p.m. Jim Evans, a 19-year veteran high school and college coach, will teach drills and discuss coaching techniques. Food and soccer balls will be provided. Oxford County Soccer Club begins its season August 26 with boys' and girls' teams for Under-14, Under-12 and Under-10 age brackets. The Under-14 boys team won its division title in 2006. For more information about the program, visit the web site.

Central Maine Football Camp still open

LEWISTON - The Central Maine Football Camp is accepting players for upcoming sessions July 15-19 and 22-26.

All sessions run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Players must have all protective equipment, including a mouthpiece. Participants should contact their coaches to secure equipment. Cost is $75. Camp will be held on the Bates College football practice field adjacent to the track off Russell Street. For more information, contact Skip Capone at 786-6364 or ecapone@bates.edu.

Acadian Little League tourney open to teams

BAR HARBOR - All Minor League and Little League all-star teams are invited to participate in the ninth-annual Acadian Little League Invitational, to be held August 3-5 at the complex across from the Bar Harbor YMCA.
