NORWAY - A Norway woman was injured Thursday night when she lost control of her car on Route 117.

Irene Parker, 57, was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital for treatment of back, neck and shoulder pain, police Sgt. Jim Ventresca said.

Parker was headed toward Waterford in a downpour shortly before 8 p.m., he said, and drifted into the breakdown lane near Boomers pub. The car hit the guardrail, crossed the road, went into a ditch and up an incline, he said.

Due to the position of the car and Parker's injuries, Norway, Paris and Oxford fire departments responded to get Parker out of her car without further injury, he said.

Officer Dana Wessling assisted at the scene.

Also Thursday, a chain-reaction collision on Main Street caused about $7,000 damage but no injuries, Ventresca said.

Raymond Thompson, 57, of North High St. in Bridgton had stopped for a pedestrian in the crosswalk.

Behind him was Glen Paradis, 49, of Greenwood Road in Norway, and behind Paradis was Andrew McBean, 25, of Lewiston, Ventresca said.

McBean's 1996 Toyota struck the back of Paradis' 2005 Subaru sedan, which pushed it into the back of Thompson's 2007 Chevrolet pickup, he said.

Riding with Paradis were his wife, Pam, and 9-year-old daughter Nicole.

No one was hurt, Ventresca said.

Total damage was estimated at about $7,500 to the three vehicles.
