AUBURN - Full Moon Alpacas and Full Moon Country Store have opened at 272 South Witham Road.

Owners Darlene and Michael Reardon moved to the area from Massachusetts in 2005 and started the farm, opening the store this month.

The farm features 18 alpacas, a fiber-producing animal indigenous to South America, for breeding and fiber. The Full Moon Country Store will carry yarns and rovings (unprocessed fiber for spinning) from the fleece of their alpacas, as well as alpaca garments.

Also available for sale are alpacas, from "luxury fiber non-breeding males" to "high quality breeding stock." They also feature three full Peruvian herdsires, which are available for outside breedings.

The public is invited to visit the farm and the store, but call ahead to arrange a visit and to check store days and hours at 782-3404.

They may also be reached on the Web at www.fullmoonalpacas.com.

Also, the farm will be a host for the first National Alpaca Farm Day, being sponsored by the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association, on Sept. 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Visit www.nationalalpacafarmday.com for more information on the event.
