LEWISTON - Singer/songwriter Scott Von of Colorado will bring his roots music and guitar-playing skills to The Maple Room at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11. The folk musician plays acoustic, baritone and lap slide guitar.

Next up, on Saturday, Oct. 13, will be finger-style acoustic guitarist Andy McKee, who has four videos in the YouTube "All-Time, Top-Rated Music Videos Top Ten List." In less than a year, raves on YouTube have helped launch the 26-year-old into the international spotlight. Besides the music category, McKee's acoustic guitar videos have set up residence in YouTubes "All Time" lists for any videos.

Von's songs and percussive guitar playing have been wowing festivalgoers west of the Rockies. In his two short years on the scene, he has opened for Chris Smither, Peter Mulvey, Over the Rhine and The Samples. He has won several songwriting awards.

Von's latest release, "Moving Stones," was recorded in an old Maine farmhouse. According to his Web site, www.scottvon.com, "The CD captures the boot stomping vibe of a live room with the sounds of trumpet, dobro, lap steel, upright bass, drums, and percussion."

For music clips, visit www.scottvon.com/sv_music.htm.

The duo A Melodic Daydream, also of Colorado, will open Von's show with its combination of soul-influenced vocals and melodic indie-rock acoustic guitar.

McKee's mentor, guitar virtuoso Don Ross, calls McKee "the most textural player of the instrument since Michael Hedges. He creates sonic architecture worthy of the great modern composers for any instrument."

Ross is touring with McKee and will play an opening set along with fellow finger-style guitarist Craig D'Andrea.

Tickets, $25 to either performance, are available online at www.themapleroom.info and at the door. The Maple Room, located at 22 Park St., is a smoke-free, all-ages venue and serves a selection of natural and organic treats from Maine and throughout New England.
