NORWAY - A peace group is organizing a Saturday trip to Boston to take part in one of 11 rallies that will be occurring nationwide.
"We're going down and back in the same day," said Suzanne Dunham, a member of the group unofficially named Concerned Citizens of Oxford Hills.
Dunham said eight people signed up to take part in the event, and will head down to Boston in a van. She said the group may get another vehicle if more people sign up. It will be holding a meeting at 5:30 p.m. today at the Fare Share Commons to discuss the trip.
The Boston demonstration, which is being organized by New England United, is part of a larger event being organized by the group United for Peace and Justice. The Boston event will feature musical performances and several speakers, including historian Howard Zinn.
The event begins with a rally at noon at the Boston Common bandstand and is followed by a march to Copley Plaza from 2 to 3 p.m.
More information is available from Dunham at 665-2967, or Tom Whitney at 743-2183. |
