Ex-school official pleads to sex abuse

Thursday, January 24, 2008

AUGUSTA (AP) - A former high school assistant principal awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to sexual abuse of a minor.

Sixty-year-old Frank "Skip" Gleason of Anson faces up to 364 days in jail after entering his plea on Tuesday in Kennebec County Superior Court.

Before his arrest last month, Gleason was the assistant principal at Carrabec High School and had worked in the school district for more than 20 years. The high school serves the towns of Anson, North Anson, Embden, New Portland and Solon, and has fewer than 300 students.

He was charged with hugging, kissing and fondling a 15-year-old boy during a ride home after a basketball game.

This is just a slap on the wrist, and an insult to the victim. This man WILL do it again!

y'all can say what you want to, but I'm telling you straight out, that if some SOB ever laid a finger on my kid, they wouldn't find enough peices of him left to put in a shoebox.

They need better background checks on these people, anyone that has contacts with children. We can't trust anyone with our kids anymore, very sad. Used to be that kids could turn to teachers for advice, now?????? Very, very sad. There may be only a handfull of these jerks, but how can anyone tell which ones they are???

Background checks??? If these sickos have never been caught before they wouldnt have a record. Background checks are only effective if the person has ever been caught commiting a crime. I do agree however that this sentence is a joke and a slap in the face to the victim.

364 Days for a lifetime of memories for this 15 year old. How does that work? Good thing he stood up for himself.
