• Over 1,000 people were present last evening at the whist party held in Lewiston's City Hall under the auspices of Les Enfantes de Marie of the St. Marie and under the supervision of the pastor of the parish. More than 200 tables were placed in the large hall for the whist players. The whist began at 8:45 and concluded at 10:15 p.m. Prizes were then awarded to the winners of the evening.

Doctors, supported by national, state and local medical societies, oppose free inoculations for adults, he said.

While the city has done "extremely well" in contracting for computer services with Advantage Business Systems, which handles payrolls, billings, tax assessment records and compilation of voter lists, it is time to re-evaluate the need for an in-house computer, he said.
