Boston comedian is 'funny ... naughty funny'
Wednesday, March 19, 2008
Lewiston man will make his debut in area as stand-up comic.
AUBURN - Boston comedian Tony Moschetto will return to headline Comedy Night Saturday, March 22, at The Fireside Inn & Suites. He will appear with Mike Whitman and Bill Picard, a Lewiston comedian making his area debut.
Moschetto's offbeat and sometimes risqué style prompted a former Fireside Inn function manager to tell a co-worker, "He's funny … naughty funny." He has appeared on both Comedy Central and the Playboy Channel and has performed in London and China as well as the United States.
"Last year, Tony did one of our first shows when we brought comedy back to the hotel, and the crowd just loved him," said show producer Travis Wallace, himself a comedian. "When we had the chance to bring him back, we jumped on it."
Speaking of Picard, Wallace said he met him recently when he came to a show and later forwarded him a DVD of his act. "It was hysterical," Wallace said. "He's been working in Boston, getting great reviews from the Boston clubs, and I'm extremely excited to have him at our club."
Whitman is a young comedian who has become a favorite in the Boston area, opening for such acts as Jim Gaffigan, Steven Wright and Gary Gulman. Originally from the Berkshires, he uses a combination of brain power, day dreaming and thinking about yesteryears to come up with his material.
Comedy Night is presented by Laughing Matters Comedy. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets to the show are $14 ($12 with a reservation). For tickets, call 777-1777, or check www.laughingmatterscomedy.com. The Fireside Inn & Suites is just off the Maine Turnpike at Exit 75. |
