I am one of the people above. Justin was one of my arresting officers and he was actually quite polite and professional. He seemed a bit frustrated and unhappy but he's a Lewiston cop so can you blame him?

Jeff, there are a few on the force that have large egos. My friend went through a situation that one of the officers was nasty to him in his own house and he had not done anything wrong. The public is not being treated correctly by some of the officers and they are making a bad name for the rest of the force. Hopefully, your grievance will lead to something positive

jeff, if u wer “not intoxicated in the least”, why not take the test, prove ur sobriety, and argue ur principals in a more suitable forum, not jail? this would seem more believable. ur first person Ive herd say they didnt take the intoxilyzer because they were “not intoxicated in the least.” ur story sure sounds suspicious and convenient.

Hey Jessica, nice multi-use of the word "are". Perhaps you should get a dictionary and look up the word "our"... Can't even get a three letter word correct... I am willing to bet the reason the PD reacts the way they do (if it is even remotely true) is because they respond to so many of the same calls about the same people and get the same old tired excuses. You don't get respect if you don't give it. Just the fact that many of you are as familiar with the PD as you claim to be leads me to believe you have had more than one encounter with them. Aren't you all just fine upstanding citizens...mamas must be proud.

Jeff if your story is what it seems I would approach the D.A about this before the court date and have these officers under some kind of supervision, in my experience something will get done. This happens often in one way or another, these officers DO harass to boost the egos.

I happen to know Kitteredge and Murphy and they are both very good respectful cops. They both do their job well. They're out doing there job getting the bad guys, so if you people would stop getting in trouble with the law then you wouldn't have that problem.

Something's fishy. Too many adjectives, too much preparation. Your patter seems well- rehearsed.

There are several cops on any police force with ego's too large for their own good, and the good of the community. Lewiston's force is no exception to this. Eventually their true colors will be shown. Look at the officer in Portland/Westbrook... I do not believe that he is completely innocent of all three situations, dispite the fact that he was aquitted. It will come to light eventually ...

Yeah, well you both sound like trouble makers. How come when there is an incident you seem to be right there in the middle of it when most of us can live our entire lives without ever seeing anything like that? One of you is a grifter and the other is a busybody.

Would I be the busy body you are referring to? I have no problems with cops but I am also not in denial that a good percentage of them are overly headstrong. I believe I have been very open-minded about this, not one sided. How does stating my opinion make me a busy body? And trouble maker? I have always been a very fast driver ... Several traffic violations later the state enacted the 3 strike law on certain violations and suspended my license for a long time. Now I have a family, a house and a good paying job. I am trying my hardest to make up for the stupid things I did in my past. I haven't been in any sort of trouble in 6 + years at least but my stupidity when I was younger is still following me. Yes, I drove with a suspended license. I take full ownership of the "crime". But I have a family to provide for and that requires going to work. I was out of work at 5 and in the back of a cruiser by 5:10. That is something I have to deal with. What's my other option at this point? I can't go back and erase my past traffic violations. Should I get on welfare and sit at home online all day? I chose to take a risk and drive to and from work. It is the choice I made and the result I have to live with. Trouble maker or busy body? No, just a person trying to make a life for myself.

lew res, if you sit in front of the computer it's ok, but if I do it I am miss lonelyhearts? Let's see, besides running my own business, I put out 2 podcasts a month for my hiking/snowshoeing group, write press releases for a nature conservancy, volunteer twice a week in a sheltered workshop, sit on the board of directors of a non profit corporation, and I am an officer in 3 different fraternal organizations. In my spare time, I am a certified master gardener. I'd tell you who I am, but you'd only show up at my house and neither of us wants that.

I too was treated as a second class citizen when drunk driver smashed into my vehicle. I was told that my vehicle was not worth enough to warrant an accident report. Of course it isn't worth much now that front bumper was pushed into the radiator, the front bumper was destroyed and both rocker panels were knocked off! There is fluid leaking from every connection in the front of the car, the hood hits the fender, the door rubs when opened or closed, etc.! The guy admitted to the police that he was drunk and hit my car but he had no ID or license. They told him to go back into the bar and threatened to arrest me for disorderly conduct for asking questions and refused to identify themselves, even after I started our conversation by telling the officers that I was in recovery for 14 years and the expression on my face is stuck. This is the way I look and have been asked by doctors and nurses if I was angry when I was just in a deep thought or staring off into space. The officers were rude and talked down to me. I have a panic disorder and this was one of the scariest encounters with the police since I plugged the jug in ‘94’!! We pay their salaries and if people that associate with others in self-help groups are discriminated against for prior bad acts, then people will stop going to places for help, stop helping others with similar problems and will stop being there to help the sick and suffering that are trying to change their lives. A tour in Iraq seems to open doors for people who do not have the necessary skills needed to protect and serve effectively in the states. Don't get me wrong but this was just plain discrimination! I have respect and gratitude for the officers out there doing their JOBS by protecting us and putting themselves in harms way and I wouldn't trade places with any law enforcement official because their job is dangerous but they made the choice and this isn't Iraq. That's my story and I am sticking to it!
