PTO planning school fundraiser

,
Wednesday, March 26, 2008

WEST PARIS - With a goal of $2,000, the Agnes Gray Elementary School parent-teacher organization has scheduled a fundraiser for Sunday, April 13, at the Jackson-Silver American Legion Post in Locke Mills.

Event coordinator Veronica Poland said it will be a basket bingo with raffles and refreshments to support after-school programs.

"We have received a wish list from the teachers, which includes basic essentials like pencils, crayons, glue and other items needed by the children that the district (SAD 17) is having trouble purchasing the way the economy is at this time," Poland said.

She said some money also could be for field trips, and tutoring students.

"Some money is needed because some children's families cannot afford the extra help needed. So by raising extra funds we are able to provide the help those children need," Poland said.

She said organizers have $800 toward filling baskets, but more is needed and donations would be appreciated. To make a donation, call Poland at 557-3238.

The bingo will feature 16 baskets. For $10 per ticket a person can play throughout the event. The program is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.with bingo beginning at 1 p.m.
