LEWISTON - The first part of a three-phase industrial development is under construction on outer Lisbon Street.
A 30,000-square-foot building should be ready for tenants by June, said Joe Malone of Malone Commercial Brokers, leasing agent for the project.
"As soon as we get the pavement down, it should be ready for occupancy," said Malone.
The project, which is adjacent to Federal Distributors and borders Gayton Road, is intended primarily for industrial use. But Malone said the space can be modified for many uses, including light manufacturing, offices or warehousing.
Malone said the project's owner, developer Peter Holmes, built a similar facility on Warren Avenue in Portland, and was scouting a location for another.
"He liked Lisbon Street, he liked the area," said Malone, noting the parcel's proximity to the turnpike, as well as its location on a major traffic corridor and good exposure were all selling points.
Once completed, the entire complex will consist of four buildings; the first building can be subdivided into units of 3,400 square feet or more.
