LIVERMORE FALLS - A Park Street man was arrested Wednesday after police sear ched his home and found a firearm, said police Chief Ernest Steward Jr.
Martin Vining, 39, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of assault on Dec. 20, 2007, and was prohibited from having firearms, Steward said.
After police received information from several sources that Vining had a firearm, Lt. Tom Gould obtained a search warrant, he said.
During the search police found and removed a 12-gauge shotgun, two fighting knives and two pellet guns that resembled .9-mm pistols, he said. They also found a box of 20-gauge shotgun shells.
Officer Steve Allen arrested Vining on a charge of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Vining was taken to Androscoggin County Jail where he was held on $2,500 cash bail, Steward said.
Officers Joseph Sage and Eric Bernier along with Gould and Steward assisted.
