Online shopping site of the week: Apple's Bakery (www.applesbakery.com)
While an increasing number of companies offer gluten-free products on store shelves, Apple's Bakery (www.applesbakery.com) will deliver a fresh-baked box to your door.
Among the gluten-free, made-from-scratch treats offered by the Peoria, Ill., bakery's online store are Coconut Sugar Meltaway Cookies, Spice Gems, Chocolate Cherry Ranch Fudge Cookies and a "chip" assortment of chocolate chip, butterscotch walnut, white chocolate macadamia nut and dried cranberry white chocolate. The bakery also offers a moist, glazed lemon drop cookie.
Made from rice, tapioca, potato, soy and other gluten-free flours, all of Apple's products are shipped fresh. But because gluten helps baked goods stay moist and chewy, don't wait too long to eat the cookies or they will become dry and crumbly.
The cookies are sold in packages of nine to 12 and start at $19.95. A custom-selected 12-cookie assortment box also is available. |
