We think you should always expect the unexpected, no matter where you go or what you are looking for, but we really found the unexpected in Falmouth.
The town that lies between Portland and Yarmouth was settled in 1632 by Arthur Mackworth at what is now Mackworth Island. The area around Casco Bay known as Falmouth was the seventh town incorporated in Maine. Later towns separated from Falmouth to become what are now Portland, South Portland, Cape Elizabeth and Westbrook as well as today's Falmouth.
And today's Falmouth has a lot to offer, from whimsical garden creatures created out of rusty, forgotten metal paraphernalia, to a lady who will deliver balloon bouquets and sing you a tune along with it. From a quiet town landing that will burst with life in just a few more short weeks, to a restaurant where you can get great foods made from natural and organic ingredients.
There's horseback riding, golfing, parades, art fairs and you can even get fresh native ice cubes at the Town Landing Market! Need we say more? If you need more information about the area, visit www.portlandregion.com. Yard Garb
