PARIS - Justice Roland Cole heard several not guilty pleas Thursday on a variety of charges in Oxford County Superior Court.
Kyle Hunt, 27, of 23 East Oxford Road in Oxford, pleaded not guilty to gross sexual assault, burglary, criminal threatening, violation of a protection order, domestic assault criminal mischief, and violation of conditions of release.
Hunt is accused of threatening and assaulting a woman last month and forcing her to perform a sex act on him at gunpoint in a separate incident. He was arrested following a three-and-a-half hour standoff with police.
Cole ordered that the $25,000 cash or $50,000 surety bail set for Hunt remain in effect. Defense attorney Maurice Porter had requested that Hunt's bail be reduced to $2,000 with a Maine Pre-Trial Services contract.
Alvah B. Pike IV, 27, of 26 Spruce St. in Rumford, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in prison contraband. Pike is accused of trafficking in maprotiline pills, an antidepressant medication.
Pike has been held at the Oxford County Jail since September on charges of attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault and aggravated assault. He pleaded not guilty to those charges in November and is being held on $20,000 cash or $100,000 surety bail.
Earl S. Blanchard, 49, of Rumford, pleaded not guilty to a 20-count indictment charging him with aggravated and attempted aggravated drug trafficking, acquiring drugs by deception, forgery and violation of conditions of release.
Blanchard is accused of lying to pharmacists to obtain prescription medication. He is also accused of selling propoxyphene, a painkiller, which led to the overdose death of 35-year-old Rebecca Clark of Rumford. Cole ordered that bail for Blanchard be set at $2,500 cash or $10,000 surety.
John P. Bernard, 43, of 82 Maine Ave. in Rumford, pleaded not guilty to aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and three counts of acquiring drugs by deception. Bernard is accused of trafficking and acquiring the painkiller morphine sulfate, as well as acquiring escitalopram, an antidepressant, and lioresal, a muscle relaxant.
Timothy Frisk, 26, of 56 Roxbury Road in Mexico, pleaded not guilty to aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs. Frisk is accused of selling Vicodin, a painkiller, within a school or safe zone. |
