Tuesday, April 29, 2008

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (AP) - Central Falls police are investigating two shootings over the weekend that killed teenagers.

The most recent shooting happened about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. Police say a 16-year-old student from Central Falls High School was found shot dead near a street corner. Authorities have not released his name. Investigators do not have suspects.

A day earlier, 19-year-old Helder Tomar, of Pawtucket, was killed in a Central Falls park. Investigators say Tomar and 19-year-old Anthony Strobert were fighting when Tomar apparently pulled a handgun from his waistband. In the ensuing struggle for the gun, both men were shot.

Police have charged Strobert with murder.
