Dog lover, landlord and soon-to-be newlywed, this Chamber maiden is behind the Twin Cities' newest festival.
Jennifer "Jenny" Moulton - Maine resident and UMO grad - made a home in the Twin Cities a few years ago after interning at the Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce. Now an integral part of the Chamber team, she's organizing the first Grains and Grapes (beer and wine) Festival at the Colisee June 21. When she's not planning her wedding or crooning to her canine.
Name: Jennifer Moulton (soon to be Jennifer Ziebart!!)
Age: 27
What's your title at work? Communications & YPLAA coordinator
You're the brains, beauty and brawn behind YPLAA, the popular Chamber of Commerce organization for young people in the community. Is it the glamour job that it sounds like? What's the best part? YPLAA took a lot of hard work to get off the ground and get organized. We are still trying to make sure we're giving YP's in the area what they need and want out of a young professional group. The best part has been the intelligent, motivated and fun people I get to surround myself with!
You are also the major-domo of the upcoming first annual Grains and Grapes Festival at the Colisee. Excited? SO EXCITED! I knew from the first time I went to a "brewfest" that having one in Lewiston-Auburn would be a hit. I only had to bring it up to Chip three or four times before he decided to research it. Now we are teaming up with the Androscoggin Bank Colisee and not only inviting Maine breweries, but wineries as well. Unfortunately I did not get to pick the date. I'm getting married the day before so I won't be there.
Is the boss forcing you to test each wine and beer that will be served at the festival to ensure quality? Haha, no one is forcing, I will taste willingly!
Your boss is Charles "Chip" Morrison. What's his REAL golf handicap - not the one he tells everyone he has? I have no idea. My golf abilities don't go beyond mini golf.
Aside from the free parking, what's the best thing about working for the Chamber of Commerce? I don't even know where to begin! I started here as an extremely shy intern. Now I tell people I used to be shy and they don't believe me. It seems like my job changes every year and there are always new challenges for me to conquer. I don't really ever get a chance to get bored. My co-workers are great, my boss is great and the Chamber members are great!
OK, the house is burning down, flames are lapping at the door and you have time to save only one: your husband-to-be or your dog Griffin. Which do you choose? My house is equipped with a sprinkler system. So Nick would have plenty of time to run out while I scoop up Griffin to save him. Nick would have to save himself... I can't pick him up, I've tried!
Word on the street is that you actually sing to your dog. Is it a duet? What's your favorite song to sing? I just make up silly things or replace words with Griffin's name. He doesn't sing back, he just looks at me like I'm crazy. He also has a theme song, but it doesn't have any words. You're an apartment building owner. Any tips for young people who are thinking of buying an apartment building? Be patient when you're looking for tenants. Especially if you live in the building. It's better to wait and find good tenants. Mine are fabulous, and I hope they stick around for a long time! And a tip for everyone: When hiring a contractor, make sure the contract says EXACTLY what you want. Don't assume anything, even if you're confident. I had to learn this the hard way.
Since you're not busy enough, you're getting married in June. Congratulations. Who will run the show at home once you're married? Why? Griffin runs the show and he knows it! It's better that way, Nick and I both like to be in control, so when in doubt we look to the dog. |
