Gear: A run-friendly MP3

They're everywhere. They run on lakefront sidewalks and city parks. They zip through forest preserves and mountain trails. And they do it all without music. Then, there's the rest of us. The MP3 dependant. The type of runner who heads home when the battery dies or the playlist seems stale.
Being a music dependant runner means having a secret stash of music like "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor or "Lala" by Ashlee Simpson. It would be so embarrassing if someone found out but it makes running possible.
At least there are run friendly MP3 players for music dependant runners. The SanDisk Sansa Connect has a scroll wheel so you can easily switch songs while running. It also has 4GB and can hold up to 1,000 songs. (Yes! "More than a Feeling." Yes! "Getting' Jiggy With It.")
Inside, treadmill runners with Wi-Fi access can take advantage of the Sansa Connect's partnership with Yahoo! Music subscription service. With Wi-Fi access, you can wirelessly download music or tune into the Yahoo! Music Radio Stations.
The Yahoo! Features also allow users to access Flickr and view their friend's public playlists. So you might want to keep your playlist private or else everyone will know you listen to Biggie Smalls. |
