KITTERY - Ben Randall smacked a two-run triple in the sixth inning to help St. Dom's break away from Traip and post a 6-2 win Monday afternoon.
Along with Randall's two RBIs, St. Dom's (3-1) also had two suicide squeezes in the sixth inning for the win. Aaron Allen contributed with two singles.
Brian Allen and Tim Lamonreux each hit a double for Traip (3-1). Mountain Valley 10, Madison 0
RUMFORD - The Mountain Valley baseball team shut-out Madison 10-0 in five innings to win a MVC matchup Monday afternoon.
Six of the 10 runs for Mountain Valley (4-0) were scored on wild pitches. Justin Staires smacked an RBI triple, while Nate Wood hit a double for the win.
For the Bulldogs (0-4), Justin Grant had a double. Hall-Dale 13, Telstar 2
BETHEL - Ryan Leach had three hits to pace the Hall-Dale win over Telstar 13-2 in baseball action.
Dylan Dupont hit what would prove to be the winning run in the third inning, moving Tyler Cummings from second to third before the Telstar shortstop overthrew, allowing Cummings to scamper home. Cummings ended the contest with two hits for Hall-Dale (3-2).
The Rebels (1-2) were led by Ben Cross with three hits. Yarmouth 14, Poland 2
YARMOUTH - Luke Pierce whacked a two-run double and an RBI triple in the third inning and scored a pair of runs to lead Yarmouth in a 14-2 WMC win over Poland on Monday.
The Clippers (4-2) erupted for 11 runs in the third. Andrew Totta knocked in three runs and scored twice, and winning pitcher Chan Arndt helped his cause with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Jackie MacVane provided the Knights' (3-3) offense with two hits and scored both runs. Joe Murphy took the loss on the hill. Kents Hill 12, Hebron 3
HEBRON - Pat McAleer went 4-for-4 with three runs and a walk to lead Kents Hill to a 12-3 rout over Hebron in baseball action Monday.
Max Newton and Ryan Locke contributed a pair of hits apiece for Kents Hill.
The Lumberjacks (2-4) scored first but Kents Hill responded quickly with four runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning. Peter Buckley was the only repeat hitter for Hebron. Mt. Abram 4, Boothbay 3
SALEM - Junior shortstop Greg Dexter doubled in a run in the second inning as Mt. Abram edged Boothbay 4-3 in MVC boys' baseball action Monday. The Roadrunners (1-4) scored three runs in the second inning, including a tally off an RBI single from junior designated hitter Nate Ladd.
Junior pitcher David Gagnon had an impressive showing on the mound for the Seahawks (0-4), striking out 11 batters in the hard-luck loss. Dirigo 1, Wiscasset 0
WISCASSET - Junior pitcher Aaron Fenstermacher collected 66 strikes on 90 pitches as Dirigo notched a 1-0 triumph over Wiscaset in extra innings in MVC boys' baseball action Monday.
With first and second base occupied in the top of the 10th inning, the Redskins mishandled a cueball from Ryan Lafleur that loaded the bases. Then Tyler Chiasson plated a run on a fielder's choice for the eventual game-winner.
Jon Smith came on in relief in the ninth inning for the Cougars and picked up the win, allowing no hits, one walk and struck out two.
Jim Davis had a masterful performance for Wiscasset, but suffered the loss while striking out 12 over 10 innings and walking only one. Georges Valley 12, Carrabec 5
THOMASTON - Georges Valley scored four runs in the first and the fifth innings en route to a 12-5 victory over Carrabec Monday.
Justin Henry, Robbie Beverage, and Brandon Staples each collected two hits, while Henry and Travis Carpenter each drove in a pair of runs for the Buccaneers (3-1). Lacrosse
Hebron 10, Gould 5
HEBRON - Geoff Bowen notched a game-high four goals as Hebron doubled up Gould 10-5 in boys' lacrosse action Monday.
Leading by a single goal at the half, Hebron outscored the Huskies 6-2 over the final two quarters.
David Woods contributed two goals and two assists for the Lumberjacks, while Chris Gascy chipped in with a pair of tallies. St. Dom's 9, Massabesic 8
WATERBORO - Senior captain Andrew Gwarjanski scored an unassisted goal just over two minutes into overtime to give St. Dom's a 9-8 victory over Massabesic on Monday.
Ben Adams tallied three goals and two assists for the Saints (1-2) while Cam McKee and Trevor Haefele netted two goals each. Ben Horton stopped 14 shots en route to the win.
Ben Comeau led the Mustangs (2-1) with three goals, and Colby Robinson was solid in net stopping a pair of shots in the final minute to force the extra frame. |
