Wednesday, May 7, 2008

LEWISTON - Downeast Pension rallied from an early loss to capture the Lewiston Department of Recreation Coed Volleyball 'B-1' division title last week.

It took three consecutive wins in the championship round for Downeast to claim the title. In a tight semifinal match, Downeast dismissed Maine Commercial Door/Buddy T's by a final of 22-20, 20-19.

Previously undefeated Strout CPA stood in the way, but Downeast rallied from an early deficit to prevail 17-21, 21-14, 21-11 and set up a rematch. Downeast prevailed in that contest, 21-16, 21-16.

Downeast finished the tournament with a 4-1 mark. Strout, Commercial and Team Air Force all went 2-2, with General Electric and Mountain Road RV at 1-2 and Ducharme Masonry and Rowe Builders eliminated in two straight.
