Date set for Farmington TIF talks

,
Friday, May 9, 2008

FARMINGTON - A tentative date of May 15 is set for another informational meeting to discuss an update on ongoing tax increment financing negotiations between a Canadian energy company and county commissioners.

If the parties agree, the meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Franklin County Superior Courthouse building in the upstairs courtroom.

Commissioners, along with a consultant, have been negotiating with TransCanada representatives to reach a deal on the proposed $270 million Kibby Wind Project atop two mountain ridges in Kibby and Skinner townships in northern Franklin County.

TransCanada requested in February that commissioners consider entering into an agreement that would allow it and the county to capture some economic development revenue from the proposed project.
