DAR holds program on proper flag-folding
Wednesday, May 14, 2008
The Mary Dillingham Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, held the annual April meeting to honor high school Good Citizen's Program award winners at the Auburn Public Library.
After the awards ceremony, a program showing the proper folding of the American Flag was presented by L&A Veterans Council Chairman Paul R. Bernard, accompanied by Warren K. Clark, retired Marine, commander of Turner Memorial Post 111, American Legion, and Gary K. Brooks, retired Army, Navy branch, Order of the Purple Heart and recent recipient of the Gold Medal Award.
As the men made the folds Bernard explained what each one represented for the life of a man or woman in the service of their country.
At the end of the ceremony, Brooks presented the folded flag to Mary Dillingham Chapter's oldest living chapter regent, Leslie Wight, who is also an honorary state regent. |
