FLY football registration begins soon

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

LEWISTON - FLY Football (Football League for Youth) will conduct its annual cheerleader and player registration on June 12 and 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lewiston Mall.

All youth, between the ages of 8 through 13 (as long as their 14th birthday falls after October 31st), are welcome to participate.

Those interested in registering will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and bring a valid birth certificate for proof of age.

The cost for one child is $75; each additional child is $25 with a maximum of $115 per family.

Participants between the ages of 6 and 7 will participate in a flag-based, seven-week instructional program; 8 through 10 compete in the Junior Division; ages 11 through 13 compete in the Senior Division.

The league will be playing its games at the Lewiston Athletic Park (behind the Lewiston Armory), beginning with Opening Day on Sunday, August 31 and concluding with the league All-Star games on October 26.

Due to the generosity of many area businesses and the City of Lewiston, FLY Football continues to teach the fundamentals of tackle football and cheerleading to the greater Lewiston-Auburn community.

It provides an opportunity for youth to enjoy the game in a supervised, league setting while promoting the ideals of sportsmanship and physical fitness.
