Community Little Theater announces auditions for this summer's end-of-season production of "Footloose," one of the most explosive musicals in recent memory. Auditions are set for May 18 and 20 at 6 p.m. at the Lewiston Middle School Auditorium on Central Avenue in Lewiston.

In this lively adolescent-oriented musical, a city kid attempts to adapt to life in an ultra-conservative backwater Midwestern town. Once there he ends up leading the repressed teenagers into a rebellion against the town fathers who have outlawed rock & roll and dancing.

Some of the lead roles in "Footloose" include Ren, a fun-loving teenager from Chicago, and his intelligent and resilient mother, Ethel McCormack; Ariel, a thrill-seeking teenager from Bomont; Rusty, Urleen and Wendy as Ariel's friends; Reverend Shaw, the charismatic minister of Bomont and his good-humored wife, Vi Moore; and the quick-fisted hayseed, Willard Hewitt. Many other roles fill-out the cast of Footloose with age ranges from 13 to 50. For more information on roles, voice range and recommended music selection for the roles, visit www.laclt.com.

The performance dates are scheduled from Aug. 15 to 24. For questions on vocal auditions, please contact the musical/vocal director, Darren Avery, at 795-1013. For all other questions, please contact the producer, Karen Mayo, at (207) 346-6140 or the director, Richard Martin, at 783-1828. or direktor@roadrunner.com.
