LEWISTON - Nine different players tallied at least one goal for the Cannons as they ran away with an 11-6 victory over T-Rock in Lewiston Department of Recreation seventh and eigth grade boys lacrosse at Simard/Payne Memorial Park (formerly Railroad Park) on May 10.

Maxwell Bolduc opened the scoring for the Cannons at the 3:40 mark in the first quarter and they never looked back.

Corey Morgan and Nick Cote each netted a pair of goals with Tanner Hubbard, Matthew Therrien, Erik Wilson, Matthew Melanson, Steven Patrie and Dylan Tanguay tacking on one each.

Crisp passing and an opportunistic defense were key for the Cannons, who improve to 1-0-1 on the season. Their first game resulted in a 4-4 tie against Bath.

"They did a great job they worked hard and passed the ball very well," said head coach Moe Morin.

Mitchell Grimmer provided the offense in the first half for T-Rock (0-1) with a pair of goals.

Despite falling behind 7-2 at the half, T-Rock kept pace with the Cannons scoring and allowing four goals in the second half. Nick Garcia netted a pair with Nick Hatfield and Caleb Johnson contributing with one each.

It was an impressive showing for a team that is still learning each other's names.

"We just picked the team last week," said head coach Mike Grimmer. "This is the first time they played together; we had no practice. They really came together in the second half. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season."

Things get rolling for the teams this week as they'll each play four games in five days starting with both teams traveling to Topsham on Thursday, May 15. T-Rock faces off at 5:30 p.m. with the Cannons following at 6:30 p.m.

The action returns to Simard/Payne Memorial Park on Friday with T-Rock facing off agasint Auburn at 5 p.m. and the Cannons hosting Gardiner at 6:30 p.m.

Both teams head to Yarmouth for a pair of matinee games beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday, then return to Simard/Payne Memorial Park to square off against Back Bay with a game one faceoff time of 5 p.m.
