Lewiston Rec offering lacrosse skills and drills

LEWISTON - The Lewiston Department of Recreation is offering "Introduction to Lacrosse: Skills and Drills" for children in first and second grades. The program begins Sunday, May 18 and run weekly through Sunday, June 22. The course will meet from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Simard/Payne Memorial Park (previously Railroad Park).
Fiddlesticks are required, and soccer cleats are preferred.
Instruction will focus on warm-ups, game etiquette, safety, ground ball, scooping, dodging, shooting, passing drills, facing off, positioning and teamwork. No actual games will be played. Bridget Cailler is the Program Director, and the instructor is Moe Morin.
Fee is $30 for Lewiston residents and $40 for non-residents. Children must be registered by May 16 at the Lewiston Department of Recreation, 65 Central Avenue, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. FMI, call 513-3005. A-L YMCA offers lfeguard course
AUBURN - The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA is offering an ARC Lifeguard Certification Course to be held 3 nights a week from May 20 to June 9 from approximately 6 p.m. -10 p.m. each night.
There are several prerequisites for this course including a 300-yard swim and participants must be at least age 15 before the last scheduled class session.
Upon completion, the lifeguarding/first aid certification are valid for three years and the CPR expires after one year.
