Museum L-A
Wednesday, May 14, 2008
The little brick building in front of Bates Mill on Canal Street, known in its time as the Executive Office Building or "where all the big decisions were made," is coming down.
Because of the construction, the museum has to move its offices and exhibits and recreate exhibits in a new space adjacent to its first-floor gallery, and Museum L-A is looking for volunteers to help with its preservation efforts and relocation. Volunteers with carpentry, plumbing, drywall, cleaning and painting skills as well as people to help in moving offices and exhibits are needed as soon as possible to get the new spaces ready for reopening June 8.
Saturday, May 17, is volunteer day, but work is also being done weekdays and evenings. Anyone interested in donating time, supplies, equipment or cash are asked to call Rachel Desgrosseilliers at 333-3881. |
