Gem, mineral festival taking place in Bethel

BETHEL - The Oxford County Mineral and Gem Association has announced the 47th annual Western Maine Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Festival on Saturday and Sunday, July 12 and 13, at Telstar Regional High School.
The show will feature a variety of dealers from Maine and across the United States. There will be museum quality displays along with a florescent mineral booth. There will be guided field trips to local mines at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday for those who wish to try their hand at finding their own treasures. There will be hourly door prizes as well, as a grand door prize drawn at the end of the show.
The show will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
There will also be a mineral swap at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 12, in the parking lot in front of the school.
