SEBAGO - Schoolhouse Arts Center held its first performance in the partially renovated black box theater on Thursday, May 22.

Thirteen students from the Storybook Theater and Youth Ensemble classes at Schoolhouse performed "Storybook Prince," by Joanne Oppenheim, adapted for the stage by Amanda Fickett, and "Super Sleuths: The Case of the Missing Gemstone," by Amanda Fickett.

While the renovations to the new theater are not complete, almost 60 people attended the first performance. The set was placed in the area where the stage will soon be built while audience members watched from folding chairs, but all agreed it was a delightful first performance.

Students from Storybook Theater included Nathan Bachner, Nicole Caruso, and Narissa Libby from Gorham, Lunara Graham from Limerick, Marina Lavigne from Limington, and Analise Castillo from Windham.

Students from the Youth Ensemble included Lucia and Elsa Alexandrin and Rachael Stewart from Gorham, Autumn Paquette from Hollis, Dejah Crystal and Ray Staples from Standish, and Sean Mains from Windham.

These students have been working with Instructor and Director Amanda Fickett over the last three months to bring these two charming stories to the stage.

The next performance in the black box theater will be "Stories for a Park Bench," by Amanda Fickett, on Thursday, May 29, at 7 p.m.
