Two injured in Route 117 motorcycle accident
Staff report
Saturday, May 31, 2008
BUCKFIELD - Two people were injured when a motorcycle and a car collided on Route 117 near the Turner town line Friday morning.
Michael Turmenne, 47, of Mapleton, and his female passenger, who was not identified, were traveling west when Turmenne's 2008 Harley-Davidson crossed the centerline on a curve and collided head-on with a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina driven by Donald Boutin, 60, whose address was not available, Maine State Police Trooper Ronald Turnick said.
Speed appeared to be a factor, Turnick said, based on witness accounts.
Turmenne's passenger was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by a LifeFlight helicopter. Turmenne, from northern Aroostook County, was taken by ambulance to the hospital. He was treated at CMMC and released, a nursing supervisor said Friday night. The status of his passenger was not known.
Boutin was not injured in the accident. It appeared a third vehicle went off the road in an attempt to avoid hitting the motorcycle and Boutin's car, according to a Sun Journal correspondent on the scene. The name of the third driver was not immediately available |
