Auction, dinner support community need
Saturday, June 7, 2008
AUBURN - The Sexual Assault Crisis Center will host its 8th annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Martindale Country Club.
This year's celebrity waiters are Maine Attorney General Steven Rowe; Keith Baldi and Norm Karkos of WMTW-TV; Phil Nadeau, Lewiston's assistant city administrator; Steve Huber, physical therapist; and Brian Yokono of WCSH-TV.
Also, Lewiston Police Chief Bill Welch; Auburn Police Chief Phil Crowell; Bill Gagne of the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department; Dick and Diana Courtemanche of Modern Woodmen Insurance; Patti Gagne of Allstate Insurance and Judy Klein-Golden, owner of The Business Assistant.
Celebrities will help wait on tables and will also share their talents at the request of guests in exchange for tips. Nelson Peters will serve as master of ceremonies, and Mitchell Clyde Thomas will provide piano music and entertainment throughout the evening.
There will be both a silent and a live auction. Auction items include jewelry, an official Red Sox baseball autographed by Clay Buchholz, two children's John Deere bicycles, car reconditioning, a portable sun cabana, a handmade quilt and a wall-hung juke box.
All proceeds from the dinner and auction will go to support the work of the Sexual Assault Crisis Center, which provides support and assistance to people who have been sexually assaulted, abused or harassed, and also provides community and school-based education about these issues.
Last year, the Sexual Assault Crisis Center provided services to 564 individuals and provided education to another 2,700 people.
Tickets to the celebrity dinner may be purchased for $30 each, or $250 for a table of 10. For more information or to buy tickets, call the Sexual Assault Crisis Center at 784-5272. |
