Paris writer will discuss 'Ordinary Days'

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

PARIS - Jeanette Kennedy Baldridge of Paris will open Old Home Days events at the West Paris Library Friday, June 13, with a book-signing and discussion of "Ordinary Days," her book of autobiographical vignettes.

The essays in this book are about geographical places in Maine and the New Mexico desert, where she grew up. They are also about the emotional and spiritual places visited by a woman, wife, mother and artist.

Baldridge writes about her family and friends who keep her grounded in these spaces, a theme often expressed in the "Voices of Maine" column she wrote for the Living section of the Sun Journal for numerous years.

Baldridge is on the adjunct writing faculty at the University of Maine, as well as a poet and a facilitator of memoir and fiction writing workshops. Her writing has appeared in "Downeast," "Reader's Digest" and "Woman's Day." It has been included in the anthology, "Reflections on Maine." She is also the baker at LolliePapa Farm, which she and her husband, Donny, operate as a community-supported agriculture farm.

The event will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the library on Maine Street. For more information, call the library at 674-2004.
