RiverVision Press has once again teamed up with award-winning Maine author Jim Baumer to deliver a hearty slice of Americana - this time capturing the history and culture of Moxie.

Baumer wrote a book on Maine town team and semi-pro baseball in 2005. This time, he explores the magic behind America's oldest continually marketed soft drink.

RiverVision plans to release a limited number of copies of "Moxietown" to help commemorate the 25th anniversary of Lisbon Falls' annual Moxie Festival. Copies of the book will be available the day of the parade in July.

"When I began my research, I was planning to write about growing up in a small Maine town (Lisbon Falls)," said Baumer. "I wanted to highlight the festival and the role of Frank Anicetti's Kennebec Fruit Company (now known as the Moxie Store). From there, the material took on a life of its own, and I was looking at enough material for a stand-alone Moxie book."

There have been only three other significant books written about Moxie, with the last major work on Moxie coming out more than 20 years ago.

"There's still plenty of material to be written about Moxie," said Baumer. "I think readers will enjoy learning some new things about the drink, as well as the role that Lisbon Falls occupies in the Moxie world."
