FARMINGTON - Four men are being held at a Farmington jail on $10,000 to $15,000 cash bail on charges connected to camp burglaries on Porter Lake in Strong and New Vineyard last week.

The damage to dozens of seasonal camps reported on June 16 and 17 could exceed $100,000, Franklin County Sheriff's Lt. Niles Yeaton said Tuesday.

"Three juvenile males have also been apprehended," he said. "They will be charged at a later time."

Deputies arrested the men between late Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.

Timothy D. Lagasse, 18, of Industry Road in Farmington, and Shane C. Sturgeon, 21, of Botka Hill Road in Livermore, were arrested Monday afternoon, Yeaton said.

Sturgeon was charged with 24 counts of burglary and with aggravated criminal mischief and theft, Yeaton said. He is being held on $15,000 cash bail.

Lagasse was charged with 13 counts of burglary, aggravated criminal mischief, and theft, he said. He is being held on $10,000 cash bail at the county jail.

Zachery Heath, 19, of West Farmington was arrested and charged Tuesday with 24 counts of burglary, and theft and aggravated criminal mischief. He is being held on $15,000 cash bail.

Dylan Couturier, 18, of Park Street in Livermore Falls was also arrested and charged with 11 counts of burglary, and aggravated criminal mischief and theft on Tuesday. He is being held on $10,000 cash bail.

They will be arraigned Wednesday at a Farmington court.

Yeaton said damages at the approximately 25 camps ranged from none to every window and glass door being broken, he said.

Deputies don't know how many camps were hit yet, Yeaton said, because the numbers are still being collected.

A total damage estimate will not be known for weeks due to the extensive damage, he said.

One camp owner has an estimated $35,000 in damage that doesn't include replacing the carpets, Yeaton said.

Key evidence in the case, seized in an unrelated incident June 18 in Farmington, was provided by Farmington Police Department officer Ed Hastings, he said.

The poor children that are under 18 will just keep on going and they will do the same thing later in life. Lock them up now.

I keep reading this and shaking my head in disbelief. What a shame these young men chose to be really stupid and it will effect them for the rest of their lives. I hope these boy's "friends" realize how quickly their lives can be changed forever by one (or many, in this case) stupid, thoughtless, careless act. I'm happy the FPD was able to make the arrests. Hopefully the camp owners can clean up their camps and have closure knowing the suspects were caught.

THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE DONE BY THESE 'KIDS' IS INSURMOUNTABLE! THE CAMP OWNERS WILL HAVE ALONG AND ARDUOUS TIME TRYING TO CLEAN UP AFTER THEM. THE SAD PART IS THEY STOLE MOSTLY ALCOHOL AND THEM JUST TRASHED THE CAMPS!!! THESE KIDS REALLY NEED A LESSON IN 'DO UNTO OTHERS...'! WHY NOT MAKE THEM JOIN IN ON THE CLEAN UP PROCESS ADN SEE IF THEY ENJOY THE FRUITS OF THEIR LABOR!!!

I own a camp and we have been broken into before. It's nice to see that they were caught. These camp owners will have to claim it on their insurance, then the insurance rates will go up because of it. All for what....and look how they have now messed up their futures...if they even had one to begin with. Unreal!!! sad...

these are not men, they are a bunch of little cowardly punks with an IQ of 2 what a shameless act of stupidity and hardship for the owners of these seasonal homes. I say lock em all up and throw away the key cause all they will get is a slap on the wrist and do it again if they continue to drink.alcohol is evil if you don't know how to control it

Poor kids? Don't lock them up? What are you supposed to do? regardless of whether they go to jail or not, unless they make a decision to stop this activity they will continue to act in the same way. To not respond to their actions, which caused 100,000 dollars damage, is like giving them a free pass to do theur next crime!

Um--get a job, go to college, join the military...Oh, let's just go trash some camps and take from others what we are too useless to earn for ourselves.

I agree these kids ought to be made to help clean the camps up and their parents pay for it and find a good solution for them to really learn a lesson or they are just going to do it again, how do I know, well my car was stolen by three juvelines and they took it joy riding and smashed in all the windows, the roof, the trunk, its was totaled, I only had liability and was paying for ins for two vehicles, which my other one is about to break down. My point is I tried to work with the parents and see if we could come up with a solution besides what the courts will do, to make these kids really learn their lesson, well the parents told me to go jump in a lake, One kid has gone to court and the he lied to the judge and got 6 mths proabation and pay resistitution for $1,000 bucks, which I will never see. I am waiting for the other two to go to court for them. As I watch the kids that stole my car ride by my home on their 4 wheelers smoking cigs and their parents with new cars a new harley, hmmm. My son doesn;t have a 4 wheeler, hec I am sinlge mom doing my best to raise my kids in a great home. Does this seem fair, no its not fair. It down right makes me so dam angry, lousy parenting and lousy laws in this state, so good luck to the vicitims of this crime

For everyones imformation I know all for men charged. This is the first time some have been in trouble with the law. They are not retarted or stupid. They had a few drinks and made some stupid choices. I think you shouldn't speak about things that you konw NOTHING about. You don't know what kind of home life these boys have or how they've grown up!! I'm pretty sure all of you have made stupid choices in your life but no one critizied you for it! If anyone is stupid it is all of you that are saying rude things!! ALL OF THESE BOYS HAVE JOB AND SOME ARE TRYING TO GET INTO THE MILITARY SO THEY AREN'T JUST SITTING AROUND ROBBING PLACE AND WASTING THERE LIVES YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THESE BOYS...You only know what you read. THE PARENTS OF THESE BOYS AREN'T "LOUSY" THEY ARE GOOD PEOPLE WHO TRY THEIR HARDEST TO GIVE THESE BOYS THE BEST LIFE POSSIBLE. I guess if no one else wil speak up for these guys then I guess I will. I am related to one of these boys and he has never done ANYTHING likes this before, he's a good kid that made a mistake..heck we all make mistakes and we learn from them..He's deffinetly learned from his. Here's an idea...DON'T SPEAK ABOUT THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW!!

They better not show their faces around there ever. Camp owners are angry. They are not kids. They have been in trouble all of their lives. They did wrong, punish them. They are not kids their adults. Two of them have had run ins with the law numerous times before.
