PARIS - A 26-year-old Mexico man was arraigned in Oxford County District Court Wednesday after he allegedly broke into a woman's home and asked for a beer and a hug.
Jessie M. Cross, of 593 Back Kingdom Road, Mexico, was arrested at 4:49 Wednesday morning and charged with aggravated criminal trespass, assault and criminal mischief, according to court documents. Cross, who has two previous assault convictions, allegedly broke into the home of a female neighbor on Back Kingdom Road. The woman was sleeping in a room with her 7-year-old daughter.
Cross tried to hug the woman several times, according to police.
Police said the victim told Cross she was going to call the police and he should leave. Cross told police he had met the woman in a local establishment and went to her house for a beer, according to court documents.
He told police he knocked on the woman's door several times and when there was no answer, he broke a window.Cross left the house after the woman said she was going to call police. He was picked up by police on Back Kingdom Road.
Cross was held Wednesday at Oxford County jail on $500 cash bail. If he makes bail, he was ordered to have no contact with the woman or go within 200 feet of her home. |
