• It was a pleasure to the inmates of the Old Ladies Home a few days ago to listen to a half-hour of song by Miss Louise E. Walsh, Lewiston High School, '08. Miss Walsh has a sweet soprano voice of good range and is a pupil of Mr. Horne.

• The annual field day of the Maine Odd Ladies will be held at Long Island, Saturday, July 25. Members of the Auburn and Lewiston lodges will leave on the 7:20 a.m. Maine Central train, meeting the other lodges in Portland. Round-trip tickets good to return Monday will be sold. There will be no postponement on account of rain.

NORTH TURNER - One of Turner's talented young singers, Jerome Seamons, will be heard with Youth Cavalcade broadcast over television channel 6 Monday evening. Jerome, a pupil in the North Turner grade school, is the son of Mrs. Thelma Seamans. He has a promising voice and has always been in music.

• The appeal of motel owner Donat Cote, who has been refused permission to erect a sign directing motorists to his place and two others, will be heard July 24 by the Lewiston Board of Zoning Appeals, it was reported yesterday by City Clerk Lucien Lebel.

Cote had proposed erecting an advertising sign for the Dormer, Redwood and Holiday motels on Lisbon Road, on property of Camille Clavette of Pleasant Street. The sign would be 30 inches by 20 inches. Zoning regulations prohibit the putting up of such signs when larger than one-by-two feet, Lebel said.

LISBON - Several public hearings are on the agenda for the Lisbon selectmen at their meeting Wednesday night. Public hearings will be held on requests for victualer's licenses from Angie Bonneau, Norman Karkos and the Slovak Catholic Association. The board will hear a request from the Kamalot for a special amusement permit. There will be a public hearing on 15-minute parking zones on Main Street in Lisbon Village, and a public hearing for a liquor license for the Kamalot.
