Music for Summer Evenings continues

FRYEBURG - Chamber music will continue at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, at the Bion Cram Library at Fryeburg Academy as the International Musical Arts Institute presents its second week of Music for Summer Evenings.

The program will include Beethoven's Clarinet Trio in Bb Major, Op. 11; Dvorak's String Quartet in Eb Major, Op. 51; Beethoven's Duo for Clarinet and Bassoon #1 in C mayor, WoO27 (transcribed for violin and cello); and Ravel's Trio in a minor.

The annual concert featuring violinist and Artistic Director Eric Rosenblith and pianist/ artist resident Heng-Jin Park will take place Thursday, July 24. The program will include Mozart's Sonata for Violin and Piano in Bb Major, K. 454, and the Piano Sonata #6 in A Major by Sergei Prokofieff, and will conclude with Schubert's Fantasy in C Major, Op. posth, 159 for Violin and Piano.

The program offered Friday, July 25, will include Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante K. 364; Mendelssohn's String Quintet in Bb Major, Op. 87; and Fauré's Piano Quartet No. 2 in g minor.

IMAI's fourth annual concert featuring "Treasures from Russia" will take place Saturday, July 26. This all-Russian program will include the Cello Sonata by Rachmaninoff; pieces from the ballet "Romeo and Juliet" by Prokofieff; String Quartet No. 2 in D by Borodin; and Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 3, Op. 73 (1946).

The Bach concerto of the week - Concerto No. 1 in a minor for violin and orchestra, BWV 1041 - will be performed Sunday, July 27, as part of Music for Sunday Afternoon. Also on Sunday's program: Mozart's Piano Quartet in g minor K. 478; Ysayë's "Sonate-Ballade" for solo violin, Op. 27, No. 3; and Arensky's String Quartet No. 2 in a minor, Op. 35.

All concerts take place at 7:30 p.m., with the exception of 2 p.m. Sunday concerts. Admission is $12 for adults, $6 for seniors and students.
