African Children's Choir coming to Auburn
Wednesday, July 23, 2008
AUBURN - They touch audiences with their charming smiles, beautiful voices and lively African songs and dances. Through their music they capture the hope, dignity and beauty of Africa.
They are members of the African Children's Choir, who will perform a mixture of well-loved children's songs, traditional spirituals and contemporary tunes at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at East Auburn Baptist Church.
There is no admission for this community concert. A free-will offering will be taken to support the choir's ministries, providing education, care and emergency relief for more than 7,000 children in Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana, Sudan, Kenya and South Africa.
The African Children's Choir has been working with the most vulnerable children in Africa for 23 years, raising awareness of the plight of Africa's orphaned and abandoned, but also showing the beauty, dignity and potential of each African child.
They are a voice for the millions of children suffering in Africa.
The choir's mission is to help Africa's children today, so they can help Africa tomorrow. With a focus on education, the choir is currently caring for several thousand underprivileged children throughout Africa. These are children who could have lost all hope, but have overcome their circumstances and now are making a positive impact on society. |
