Captive Elements Art House will showcase an eclectic blend of resident artists plus three new local artists: blacksmith Hunter Matthews, photographer Katrina Kent and painter Kate Cargile. An opening reception will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, July 25. Originally from Kentucky, Matthews migrated to Auburn's New England School of Metalwork to continue his love affair with shaping metal. He is now NESM's first artist-in-residence, where he now teaches. Kent enjoys finding her subject matter in landscapes and especially people. A Lewiston native, Cargile shrinks everyday life down to an intimate canvas with her colorful paintings. Justin Labbe will provide music at the reception.
