"I hope we get some good weather this weekend," said Eric Lawson of Dunedin, Fla., as he set up The Zipper at the 16th annual Great Falls Balloon Festival carnival Tuesday. "It's been a tough season." The carnival opens Thursday evening and will remain open, weather permitting, through Sunday night. The balloon festival will host its first launch at 6 a.m. Friday, with live entertainment, food and other activities scheduled through the weekend. For a complete schedule of events, go to www.greatfallsballoonfestival.com.

At least unlike the french fun festival we dont have to pay to get on the grounds. The music is great and free. The food is good and not so free but good just the same. Good times for all. Meet your neighbors and chat while enjoying good music and eats.

I use to bring my daughters to the carnival but i have since stopped due to the overwhelming population of sketchy people. The smell of fried dough is quickly smothered with the stentch of those who "forget" to bath themselves. Plus the on going efforts of wanna-be-thugs thinking that they are living in the real L.A. city. Also it makes me feel sorry to the kids that obviously need clothes and other items having their parents waste their monthly check to make sure the adults are enjoying the atmospher rather then the children. I know its harsh, but its all true.
