PARIS -Celebration Barn Theater will present Amanda Huotari in "The Soiree," an unconventional dramatic comedy, at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30.

"The Soiree" features Elizabeth, a charming and witty hostess who is pretentious yet contagiously optimistic. A "bon vivant," she never lets a glass get empty. However, the night is full of surprises and by pouring herself just a splash at a time, Elizabeth spills it all.

"The Soiree" was written by Huotari and is directed by Avner Eisenberg. Huotari is an actor, teaching-artist and executive director of Celebration Barn Theater. She studied physical theater at Lecoq School of Theater in Paris, France, and is a graduate of the International School of Comic Acting in Reggio Emilia, Italy. She has a bachelor of fine arts degree from Emerson College.

Since 2002, Huotari has been working with Add Verb Productions performing in the one-woman show "The Thin Line." She is a founding member of the eccentric touring ensemble, The Odd Company, and can be seen regularly at The Oddfellow Theater in Buckfield. She teaches workshops in schools throughout the state as an artist-in-residence with the Maine Alliance of Arts Education.

"The Soiree" will be presented at the New York Clown Festival in September.

The play will begin at 8 p.m. Celebration Barn Theater is on Stock Farm Road, just off Route 117. For more information, visit www.CelebrationBarn.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for students. Due to adult themes, the show is not recommended for children. Reservations are required and may be made by calling the box office at 743-8452.
