Puckett to manage towns in Aroostook County

LIVERMORE FALLS - Three towns near Presque Isle have hired local Town Manager Martin Puckett to manage matters for their combined population of 2,800.
Puckett was one of 19 candidates to seek the manager's position for Mapleton, Chapman and Castle Hill, search committee Chairman David Cambridge said Tuesday.
The towns have an interlocal agreement to share services, said Cambridge, chairman of the Chapman Board of Selectmen. The search committee, made up of a board chairman from each town, interviewed four candidates for the position.
Cambridge said Puckett was chosen for his experience and enthusiasm.
"We felt he was the best-suited applicant."
Puckett and the boards agreed to a three-year contract but Cambridge declined to disclose the salary.
Current town manager of the three towns, John Edgecomb, is retiring.
Edgecomb said each town has its own board of selectmen and there is a joint board with 13 members.
Puckett has served as town manager of Livermore Falls since January 2006. His resignation is effective Sept. 26. |

I hope he leaves with lessons learned and also the combined boards at his new position straighten him out.

Posted By:ConcernedInLMF at September 3, 2008 5:38 PM (Suggest Removal) So glad Puckett is leaving. Though I feel sorry for the towns he is going TO, I am grateful he won't be here anymore. Hopefully with the MMA conducting the manager search, the apparent board bias among those who fought so hard to give him a new contract will be eliminated and LMF will have a chance at real leadership. I have to wonder why there hasn't been any outrage expressed by the board members who fought so hard to keep him. He got his contract, then wanted a year's leave of absence before it even kicked in and now, less than a year later, he's (thankfully) resigned. I hope the towns he's leaving to serve are not afraid to reign him in and make him perform or cut him loose.

Jay spends about double what it needs to anyway! That is one of the problems with merging the two schools, they spend way too much per student and don't get anything for it.
