I have known Elaine Makas for many years. Her involvement in the Democratic Party started in 1991 and includes 10 years on the state committee, eight convention committees, currently a member of the state executive committee, three-time delegate to national conventions, two terms as chairwoman of the county committee and chairwoman of the caucus of county chairs.
More importantly, she has proven herself many times as an effective leader and advocate for Lewiston. She served six terms in the Maine Legislature and is now a county commissioner. She worked to successfully keep Casella from bringing out-of-state waste to the Lewiston landfill. She worked effectively to make sure the Androscoggin River is being cleaned up. She advocated for more public access to government information.
She is a fighter for Lewiston.
I support the strong voice and effective leadership of Elaine Makas for county commissioner.
