Dogg gets out of pound

LONDON (AP) – Snoop Dogg was released on bail Thursday after a fracas he was involved in at Heathrow Airport injured seven police officers, his lawyers said.

After being detained overnight, the 34-year-old rapper was driven away from the airport’s police station, police said, while speaking on condition of anonymity in line with department policy. They did not give details of five other men arrested with him.

“Snoop has been released on bail,” said his attorney, Peter Binning. “He will return at a later date.”

Binning declined to reveal the amount of money posted for the rapper’s bail, and said that Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, has not been not charged with any offense.

London’s Metropolitan Police said officers responded late Wednesday to reports of a disturbance involving 30 people at British Airways’ first-class lounge.

The disturbance began after Snoop and his party were denied entry into the lounge because some were flying first class while others were flying economy class, said Richard Goodfellow, a spokesman for British Airways.

“They became very rude and abusive to our staff and we took the decision to … refuse them travel,” Goodfellow said.

When officers told the group they wouldn’t be allowed to board their flight, “a number of the group became abusive and pushed officers,” a police spokeswoman said on the force’s customary condition of anonymity.

The six men were arrested on charges of “violent disorder and affray” – or creating a brawl or disturbance – and spent the night at London police stations. Police said all those arrested were U.S. citizens in their 30s.

The injured police officers received cuts, bruises and other minor injuries, the force said.

Snoop and the others involved have been sent letters telling them they are banned from all future travel on British Airways, Goodfellow added.

Snoop had been due to perform in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Thursday. That concert, Binning said, will be rescheduled but others set for the weekend will go on as planned.

A former associate of the Los Angeles gang the Crips, Snoop built his early career on recordings offering gritty details of gang life.”The article conveyed the clear allegation that Sharon Stone had neglected her son in a shameful and selfish way,” Grey said.

The Daily Mail repeated the allegations in an article the next month, and they were picked up by other media outlets.

Grey said Stone could produce witnesses to confirm that her son had dined with her at the restaurant.

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) – Don Johnson has paid $14.5 million to save his 17-acre Woody Creek ranch from a foreclosure sale.

The former “Miami Vice” and “Nash Bridges” star had until noon Tuesday to make good on a delinquent debt to D.A. Shaw Laminar Lending Inc.

Fourteen acres of his estate would have been auctioned off Wednesday on the steps of the Pitkin County Courthouse if he missed the deadline, deputy public trustee Carol Foote said. Three acres and the guesthouse would have been auctioned off May 10.

The money arrived at the public trustee’s office around 4 p.m. Monday, Foote said.

Johnson, the ‘80s icon known for wearing T-shirts with Armani sports jackets and penny loafers without socks, had to pay some $544,584 in interest and $7,175 in attorneys’ fees, among other charges, according to documents obtained by the Aspen Daily News.

When reached by The Associated Press on Wednesday, Johnson spokesman Elliott Mintz declined comment.

“I’m going to let the documents do the talking,” he said.

Papers filed in Pitkin County District Court by D.A. Shaw earlier this year claimed Johnson’s two companies failed to make timely payments on a $10.6 million loan, given to Johnson’s companies in August 2004 as they emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

NEW YORK (AP) – While Angelina Jolie tops People’s most beautiful issue, Jennifer Lopez graces the cover of the magazine’s Spanish-language version.

Lopez is on the cover of People En Espanol’s annual “50 Most Beautiful” issue, on newsstands Monday.

“I’ve never tried to hide the fact that I’m Latina,” the Bronx-native tells the magazine. “I think that’s why Hispanics are like “she’s ours … she belongs to us.’ And that’s true; with the Latino community, I am theirs, I do belong to them.”

The 37-year-old actress-singer was also named as one of People’s 100 most beautiful people. While many fans await the birth of Jolie’s child with boyfriend Brad Pitt, Lopez isn’t currently planning a baby with husband Marc Anthony.

“That would be nice for sure,” she says. “I feel that will happen naturally when it does.”

People En Espanol’s list of Hispanic celebrities also includes Eva Longoria, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Jessica Alba, Eva Mendes and Daddy Yankee.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – It’s no joke – standup comedian Yakov Smirnoff is getting an Ivy League graduate degree in psychology.

What a country!

Smirnoff, who is also working on a new humor-and-self-help book titled, “Living Happily Ever Laughter,” is finishing up his master’s degree in positive psychology at the University of Pennsylvania.

Smirnoff told The Philadelphia Inquirer he plans to use his newfound knowledge in his act and his books to create what he calls the “Age of Enlaughterment” – a period when love and laughter heal psychic scars.

In his Cold War heyday, the Ukranian-born comedian appeared with Robin Williams in the movie “Moscow on the Hudson” and was invited to perform at the White House.

Smirnoff, 55, says he plays 230 shows for 250,000 fans a year. Thirteen years ago, he built his own theater in Branson, Mo.
