Red Sox recall Manny Delcarmen

BOSTON – The Boston Red Sox on Saturday recalled right-hander Manny Delcarmen from Triple-A Pawtucket in time for Sunday’s game in Toronto and sent right-hander Jermaine Van Buren back to the minors.

Delcarmen, 24, has pitched ten scoreless innings in five relief appearances with Pawtucket this season, allowing just five hits and three walks with 10 strikeouts.

Delcarmen, a Boston native, made his major league debut with the Red Sox in 2005, compiling a 3.00 ERA in 10 relief outings over three stints with the club.

Van Buren was recalled from Pawtucket on April 15 and made his lone appearance on Saturday in Toronto, allowing two hits and a run in three innings.
