Stuart W. MacBride


PLYMOUTH, Mass. – Stuart W. MacBride, 81, of Plymouth, Mass., formerly of North Attleboro, Mass., died at his home Tuesday, Jan. 9.

He was born Oct. 6, 1925, the son of the late Charles C. and Doris (Cavendar) MacBride. He graduated from Rodgers High School in Newport, R.I.; received a BS in BA from Syracuse University; graduated from both the graduate school of banking at Rutgers University and the graduate school of banking at Williams College. He retired as chairman of the board, CEO and president of Bay Banks Southeast, where he worked for 43 years.

He was a member of the U.S. Air Force during World War II, where he took part in D-Day.

He was a member of Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce in Taunton and North Attleboro, where he was past president of both; Anawon Council of Boy Scouts of America; the advisory board of Industrial Parks in both towns; and the United Fund in both towns, although past president in North Attleboro.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting carved birds and spending time at his summer home in West Newfield.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine (Pouillon) of Plymouth, Mass.; his loving daughters, Debra MacBride of Lewiston and Marny MacBride of Plymouth, Mass.; one sister, Shirley Francisco of Quincy, Mass.; his granddaughter, Kristin MacBride; and his daughter-in-law, Carol MacBride of Hartford.
